We are a dedicated group with over 100 years of combined membership at Second Baptist Church. During this time, we’ve embraced leadership roles as enthusiastic volunteers in Bible studies, events, and various activities.

Leadership at our church has consistently set the tone with excellence, but recent events have left us disheartened and concerned.

The amendments to our church bylaws that were enacted in 2023 have resulted in significant shifts within our church governance, including the removal of the church body’s voting rights. This has understandably led to feelings of unease among many members. We acknowledge these concerns and wish to approach them with prayerful consideration.

Our aim is to encourage our leadership to reconsider the current bylaws, specifically with proposed amendments for 2025 that have been carefully drafted and reviewed to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with our church’s values. These amendments include:

  1. Restoring the voting rights of the congregation to ensure that each member has a voice in important church decisions.
  2. Enhancing transparency and accountability by replacing the Ministry Leadership Team (MLT) with trustees elected from within and by the church body.

3. Addressing any grammatical and legal inconsistencies reflecting our commitment to excellence and integrity.
